The Srimad Bhagavatam offers every living entity the way to return to their constitutional position, and how to end this miserable stay in the material world. The bottom line is we are all eternal parts and parcels of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Jiva atma (spirit soul, we have all of the qualities of the Lord but only in miniscule quantity, why are we here? We are making use of our very small amount of independance.

Yes Chris, humans may as well be cats and dogs for all the effort most make to enquire about their sufferings in a really intelligent way.
They complain that God doesn't answer them or that He is not compassionate and yet when God says " OK I'll give you something easy and simple to extricate yourselves from this mess you are in", they at best ignore Him and often ridicule those who give out this exact good news message.
